Art in Education

UNESCO is sure that we need creativity in our lives, but as a retired primary teacher, I found that art, and especially drawing skills, were frowned upon. Bringing out a colouring sheet was the lowest of educational lessons a child could sit through. But that was from those in authority, for most educational books explain that drawing and colouring improve coordination, ability to concentrate, fine motor skills and mental well-being.


So I ask this - why do more schools not have a trained art teacher on hand to help mentor and build these skills?
